This has included completion of Phase I, II, and III Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs). The mill was constructed in the late 1800s and has been occupied by various metal manufacturing companies. The site has been the subject of various CTDEP enforcement actions. Widespread metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) soil contamination has been identified by the Phase III investigation, as well as some isolated solvent soil contamination. The Remedial Action Plan recommended the following: Hazardous building materials abatement Solid waste removal/disposal Remove Fuel Oil Underground storage tank Use future site development features to “cap” contaminated soils. Remove and dispose excess fill from site development
